Youth Ministry Assessment: Session I & II

The Youth Ministry Task Force has, with the approval of Coordinating Council, contracted Ministry Architects to conduct a formal assessment of Foothills Presbytery’s youth ministry initiatives.

Ministry Architects is one of the leading firms in the country doing assessment work and one of the only to formally engage with ruling bodies. Central to their process is the formation of “Listening Groups.” These one-time small groups will gather at the Presbytery Office for guided discussion around the Presbytery’s work in youth ministry.

The goal of the “Listening Groups” and the Assessment process in general is to identify strengthen and growing edges in our current model of ministry with youth. The Discernment Task Force identified youth ministry as a priority for the Presbytery. Our work now is to imagine new ways forward—to support our youth and Youth Council as well as our youth ministers, directors, and volunteers.

As members of Foothills Presbytery YOU are a de facto stakeholder in Youth ministry. If you are able, we hope you will attend one of two listening sessions on

March 20th (Monday) at the Foothills Presbytery Office.

By way of information, we will hold six other Listening Sessions from the 18th to the 21st. Ministry Architects will meet with groups of High School youth, paid youth workers, and the Presbyterian Youth Council at the Presbytery Senior High Retreat on Saturday, March 18th. On the 20th, in addition to the session listed about for Ministers, Educators, Youth Directors and Church Leaders,  they will conduct Listening Groups with the Youth Ministry Task Force and representatives from our Small(er) churches. There will also be some one-on-one phone sessions throughout the weekend.

At 1:00pm, March 21st Mark DeVries will share the Assessment Report.

All members of the Coordinating Council, Youth Task Force, Committee on Shared Ministry, Youth Leaders, Educators and other stakeholders are welcome to attend. A written report will be made available to members of Foothills Presbytery.
