To Upstate CROP Hunger Walkers:
Well, Covid-19 precautions escalated pretty quickly over the weekend, with the City of Greenville canceling all events and the CDC recommending no gatherings over 50 people. We’re going to need to change our plans for our event Sunday, March 22nd.
We will not be gathering at Greenville Technical College for the walk this year, however, we would like folks to consider this a “Virtual” CROP Hunger Walk and participate by walking Sunday on their own (in their own neighborhoods) or just being a “Spirit Walker”. (Someone who fundraises to support the CROP mission even if they don’t walk.) See ideas for “Virtual Walkers” below.
Our Upstate CROP event has already raised several thousand dollars because of online giving and cash/checks that people have been collecting all along. We want to encourage all teams and participants to send in the funds already collected and consider making additional donations that will assist hungry and struggling families locally and around the world.
The online site will be up for the next month or so for credit/debit card donations. (www.crophungerwalk.org/greenvillesc) Checks and walker envelopes can be sent to our Treasurer, Joyce Emory. Cash should be converted into a check or money order and then sent to Joyce as well:

Thanks again for your wonderful commitment to helping families who are struggling with hunger in God’s world.
Peace & Blessings – Kevin

*Ideas for “Virtual CROP Hunger Walkers”:
First – Encourage EVERYONE to register online (if you haven’t already) so that you don’t have to handle cash and checks and to make it easy for people to join your virtual team/donate to you at www.crophungerwalk.org/greenvillesc
- Have your team (or individual walkers) video themselves talking about why they participate in the CROP Hunger Walk and why it is important to them.
- Post videos (do Facebook Live for the easiest way) on social media using #EndHungerNow and #VirtualCROPHungerWalk.
- Make sure to tag your friends and potential donors (and challenge others to do likewise) and include your personal/team fundraising page link.
- Post and repost until you reach your fundraising goal.
