The 68th Stated Meeting of Foothills Presbytery will be held Tuesday, August 19, at Seneca Presbyterian Church. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. Some items on the docket include the reception of four new ministers into the presbytery, a report from the G.A. Commissioners, and the first reading of the proposed, new structure of the presbytery. Don't forget to bring your canned goods for the Golden Corners Food Bank.

South Carolina Home at Montreat Sunday is August 24. This is your "home in the mountains." It provides low cost housing for church groups and indivduals who attend conferences there. One of the ways that the home receives support is through your offering on S.C. Home at Montreat Sunday. Please give generously.

Resource of the Week

resource
Living the Questions is a resource (curriculum and media) for progressive Christians - people who know that at its core, Christianity has something good to offer humanity. In this curriculum people ask the questions they have always wanted to ask. It is a source for both seekers and "church alumni" convinced that Christianity still has relevance in the 21st century.

Excellence in Education Ministry

Your congregation might be eligible for the Union-PSCE Congregation Award for Excellence in Education Ministry. This is an annual award offered by the seminary for outstanding, innovative ministry with special populations, early childhood education, Christian education, effective youth ministry and outreach and social concern. Each award contributes $1,000 to the further development of these ministries. If you have an eligible program and would like to apply for one of the awards, please email academicdeanoffice@union-psce.edu for an application. The deadline for the consideration in 2009 is November 1, 2008.
