2009 Mission Yearbooks

myb "Do justice, love kindness, walk humbly with your God" (Micah 6:8) is the theme of the 2009 Mission Yearbook for Prayer & Study. For over 116 years the Mission Yearbook has brought the Presbyterian family together daily for prayer and study about a faithful God who does amazing things through people just like us. Foothills Presbytery will, once again, coordinate a bulk order from all congregations, enabling everyone to get the best price of $6.50 per book. If you or your church would like to place an order for the Mission Yearbook, please download the order form, complete it and mail it to the presbytery office with your check. We must have your order in the presbytery office no later than August 15. The order form also has a place for ordering the Children's Mission Yearbook at $6.50 each.
Telling the Story

"Telling the Story to Preschool Children" - Selecting age appropriate stories from the Bible to share with preschoolers  is only one part of telling the story faithfully. Knowing the developmental realities of the young child is also important to consider. Participants will learn how to use a variety of activities with young children that take the developmental realities seriously - stories, finger plays, interest centers, art, music, drama, puppetry..... This is just one of the morning "storyshops" offered at this year's Teacher/Leader and Parent Event to Equip the Saints of Foothills Presbytery churches.  This class will be taught by Jean Floyd Love, retired Christian Educator from Myers Park Presbyterian in Charlotte, N.C., and winner of the 1996 APCE Life Achievement award. The event will take place on Saturday, August 23, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm at Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church. To download a brochure, click here.
Nominations Committee Needs Your Help

(The Mission Team, one of presbytery's teams, is shown meeting with visiting missionaries at presbytery office.)

At the end of August the Nominations Committee will come together to identify people throughout churches in Foothills Presbytery who might be willing to serve on the various teams and committees of the presbytery. These people will be nominated and elected at the November presbytery meeting. A lot of the work that is done on the presbytery level is carried out by ministers and laypeople who give of their time and expertise to meet and work with presbytery staff.  The Nominations Committee is challenged with the task of finding the right people with the talents and interests to be a part of this work of presbytery. THEY NEED YOUR HELP! Each congregation is asked to search their membership and identify members who might benefit the mission and ministry of Foothills Presbytery. Please download this form, complete it and send it in to the presbytery office. Your input is very much needed and appreciated.
