Martin Luther King, Jr. for Armchair Theologians In this interesting and important introduction to the life and thought of Martin Luther King Jr., theologian Rufus Burrow explores King's life as well as his thinking and activism. Burrow addresses those who see King as only a social activist by showing how his studies, particularly his theological studies, influenced, shaped, and transformed the activist path he pursued during his public life. Themes later developed by liberation theology were anticipated by King a decade before. These ideas were honed and shaped by his social activism.
This book, with dozens of illustrations by artist Ron Hill, is written for a broad audience. It explores King's legacy, the continuing importance of his work, and his quest for "the beloved community," and it will serve as an excellent introduction to King's life and thinking.--Publisher's description.

| Building Homes of Love |
|
The clouds lifted and the rain took a break allowing tents to be pitched and campfires to be lit to show support for Foothills Presbytery's InDwellings ministry.
On Thursday, May 28, InDwellings launched its Capital Campaign, Building Homes of Love, with a camping-themed event at its future home next to Presbyterian Communities, Foothills campus in Easley. About 70 people gathered to celebrate the ministry's work to build two homes for some special adults with special needs. Boy Scouts from Powdersville Troop 210 and Clemson Troop 235 pitched tents on the property to underscore the need for more housing for adults with developmental disabilities. The scouts also got fires going to heat up the campaign, and then used those fires to cook delicious biscuits and cobbler to share with the crowd. A biscuit eating contest between InDwellings board members and the Scouts lent an air of fun to the event. The Grace Covenant Acoustic Jammers provided some "down home" tunes to inspire involvement in this crucial mission.

For more information on how you can be involved, visit the InDwellings website. You can also visit the website by clicking on the InDwellings link on the left side of the home page of the presbytery's website. They need your help to make the dream of building these homes a reality!
