McCarter Church Making Changes

For the past year McCarter Church in Greenville has been renovating and updating various sections of the church facilities. Recently they began the most significant portion of their renovation as they now are expanding and renovating the sanctuary. The work will include new entrances and a larger vestibule. There will be additional seating along with a more spacious and welcoming worship environment. The project is expected to take approximately four months during which time the congregation will worship in the fellowship hall. All activities will continue as usual. It is also exciting to report that a significant portion of the money required is already in hand with enough money pledged to cover all of the expenditures. Thanks be to God.
100 Years of Sacred Space
 Explorers
2008 marks the 100th anniversary of Presbyterian camp and conference ministry! Approximately 140 Presbyterian sites around the U.S.A. provide welcome environments for people of all ages to relax, renew and refresh through retreats, a week or two of summer camp, mission work and groupbuilding exercises, and diverse conferences. These centers provide not only faith-building events, but also environments for connecting individuals to God's creation. Let's celebrate the life-changing ministry of Presbyterian camp and conference ministry and prepare to enjoy 100 more years. Presbyterian camp centers will hold "campfires across the nation" today, June 25, with a special worship service in celebration.

"I Love to Tell the Story"

(A Teacher/Leader Parent event to equip the Saints of Foothills Presbytery churches)

Date: August 23
Time: 9 AM to 3 PM
Place: Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church at 307 North Main Street, Fountain Inn, South Carolina

The Education Team of Foothills Presbytery offers their yearly event for teacher training on August 23. This year's theme is " I Love to Tell the Story," and all of the classes are "storyshops," which focus on storytelling. Some of the storyshops are "Nurturing the Storyteller," "Knowing the Story to Tell the Story," "How Not to Tell the Story, "Telling the Story in the Family" and many others.

Plan now to take advantage of this very worthwhile, educational opportunity. Early registration (on or before August 12) is $12 per person and includes lunch. Late registration (on or after August 13) is $15 and does not include lunch. Churches can complete one registration form for all participants and submit one check payable to Foothills Presbytery.

Two special features of this year's training event are: A light-hearted drama comedy performed by the Mattoon Players right before the lunch break and three drawings for scholarships of $100 each to attend the Montreat Christian Education Conference in 2009. People whose names are drawn must be present to receive the scholarships.
