Elders rang the church bell 12 times - once for each decade, and the Mayor read a proclamation to the church. The church had 14 Charter Members in 1889 and now has a membership of 320 plus members. Dr. Steve Mays, pictured above, is pastor. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ One Great Hour of Sharing Moderator Bruce Reyes-Chow has put a challenge before our churches to double their offering this year in light of the 60th anniversary of the One Great Hour of Sharing. Now, more than ever, those who are most vulnerable in our communities and around the world are counting on us to help them make a difference in their lives. Most congregations receive the One Great Hour of Sharing on Palm Sunday or Easter. Take time to promote this offering and together we can help change the world. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Register for the Big Tent In 2008 a commitment was made to host a big Presbyterian family reunion combining ten partner conferences, worship and celebrations under one Big Tent. The idea was good, but now it seems even better. The June 11-13 Big Tent Conference in Atlanta was always about the excitement and faithfulness of being together, but the recent turn in the economy has highlighted the Big Tent as good stewardship for the church and for the participants. You may remember that the weekend weather was not the best - cold and rainy, but the youth under the leadership of the Rev. Andy Casto Waters and Music Director Beth Williams enjoyed a great time together. The theme was "The Deciding Factor," and discussion was all about "making good, Christ-like decisions." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Abby Manor Masquerade Charity Ball Presented by St. Giles Youth, this will be a night of fun, fellowship, food and fiction. If you like to read mystery books and you enjoy a delicious meal, you will want to sign up for this dinner theatre party. The location is St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 1021 Hudson Road in Greenville, and the date is March 28th at 7:00 pm. Statewide Presbyterian Student Association that serve Presbyterian students and their friends at eighteen colleges. Twice a year the Statewide Council representing these PSA groups plans and implements retreats centered on worship, service, and biblical/theological reflection. Spartanburg PSA hosted the statewide group February 6-8 for a time of "Responding in Faith to a Hurting World." Colleges represented at the retreat were USC, College of Charleston, Furman, PC, Converse, Wofford, and the Citadel. Students learned more about "Bread for the World" and wrote letters to our S.C. Senators encouraging them to pass the Global Hunger Act. They volunteered at the Charles Lea Center, Bethlehem Center, Soup Kitchen, the Haven, among other agencies. They also donated $520 to these agencies. The students attended the contemporary worship service Sunday at Westminster Fernwood Presbyterian Church. Officers elected to the S.C.
